Canada East Coast

Background

In November 2001 seven of us visited the East Coast of Canada. This page describes what happened.

For more pictures take a look at Paul's website.

Off On Holiday

Apparently James was scared of flying, so once through Customs he made his move to the closest bar. Paul isn't scared of flying but joined James in a beverage or two.

Some urgent preflight drinking to settle the nerves.

Better get some food down - it's not like we're going to be fed in half an hour on the plane!

Montreal

A safe arrival in Montreal and after an exciting cab ride we made it to our hotel, dropped our bags off and dashed off to the nearest drinking establishment, which just happened to be the Peel pub. The Peel Pub is apparently authentically Canadian,. Whatever the case it's loud, serves cheap food, large jugs of beer and became one of our favorites.

Our first night in Montreal - and some random bird.

Steve and his random new mates.

Ahh. A little shot of something disgusting please.

My, what big jugs you have Steve.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you need to share your beer.

Steve's best attempt at photographing the barmaid behind us.

Ok - we're not too hot at pouring gallon jugs of beer. After Ian and Chris's awful attempts we stuck to the tried and tested methods.

Chris with a bit of a thirst on

Put some clothes on Chris.

Ian demonstrates some PT

Nothing like a relaxing drink on the balcony - with your shirt off in near freezing temperatures.

Our new clothes after our attempt a making shopping more interesting by buying for someone else.

God Save the Queen

The Olympic Stadium in Montreal - it looks high.

.. guess what we're going up. There's nothing supporting us.

Wandering around outside the stadium

Ottawa

Ottawa heralded the start of a more cultured trip where we visited the parliament buildings and an ice-hockey game (and the swimming pool in the hotel, the pubs, other pubs and the local comedy club)

Off for a swim

The Canadian Parliament

At the ice-hockey game

In our fine pool in Ottawa

..we're not budging

Toronto

Toronto, and the worlds tallest tower - the CN tower -. We stayed in a shabby hostel with mice and had a fantastic meal at the CN towers revolving restaurant.

Toronto's CN Tower - very high

Niagara

I think the falls might have been wasted on us as we spent most of the time in the pool or in our lovely rooms. We did go on one of Paul's ridiculous walks around the falls (both Canadian and American) though.

Chris has had enough, already..

James relaxes in the misty spray

The obligatory group pose

More misty spray

Two falls for the price of one

I'm sure I could swim it!

Our new pool is lovely - but has Rhi frightened Paul off?

Ian shows us his flab (and muscles)

the whirlpool is very nice

.. I'm still not budging

If you have no fridge then there is only one way to cool the Champagne

and all things must come to an end - let's go home.
